Simplified Effluent Management – Kurt Gaskell

Tirau

When Kurt Gaskell needed to modernise his farm’s effluent system, he turned to Reid & Harrison Services, a name he already trusted. With local roots and proven performance, our team worked alongside Kurt to develop a smarter, more streamlined setup that made day-to-day operations easier, cleaner, and far more efficient.

Identifying the Problem

Kurt had recently installed a new pond, but it wasn’t doing much good on its own. With no pumping system in place and a pair of undersized stone traps that filled up too quickly, he was spending too much time managing a system that simply wasn’t built for convenience or scale. His old pump lacked the power to match the farm’s needs, and maintenance was becoming a chore.

Our Process & Approach

Purpose-Built Stone Trap System

We replaced the small, ineffective stone traps with a larger, centralised trap, designed to prevent sand and debris from reaching the pond, making cleaning easier and reducing long-term buildup.

System Integration Using Existing Infrastructure

By connecting to Kurt’s existing lines, we saved cost and complexity while still delivering a complete system upgrade. It was a seamless transition from old to new.

Automated Pumping & Stirring

A 7.5kW PC pump and shore-mounted stirrer were installed, enabling Kurt to control his system remotely. With timers and automation, he no longer has to think about his effluent system every day, it simply works.

Providing the Solution

The result is a robust, easy-to-manage effluent setup designed for real farm life. Instead of juggling daily workarounds, Kurt now enjoys a streamlined system that does more with less effort. With one big stone trap, high-capacity equipment, and smart automation, his effluent management is cleaner, simpler, and more efficient, all backed by a team he’s known and trusted for years.
