Hailing originally from Matamata, Clayton Dalley’s story is one of entrepreneurial spirit, a love for all things hands-on, and a healthy dose of burning rubber. After moving “over the mountain” at the end of primary school, he firmly planted his roots there, and by 18, had already rolled up his sleeves to start a tyre shop. While university didn’t spark his interest, Clayton found his true calling in the nuts and bolts of business—literally—and eventually found himself back in Matamata to join the family legacy at Reid & Harrison.
Today, Clayton is fully immersed in understanding Reid & Harrison’s clients' needs. Whether it's building pumps in the factory, attaching motors, or servicing equipment, he takes pride in ensuring customers are well cared for. “You could call me a manager in training,” Clayton says with a grin, crediting his father’s philosophy of starting from the bottom to work up the ranks. It’s this hands-on ethos that drives him, quite literally, onto clients’ farms to pick up pumps for servicing, share a yarn, and trade a few stories about the "good old days."
But it’s not just pumps and motors that fire up Clayton’s passion. When he’s not elbow-deep in machinery, you might find him behind the wheel, tearing up the tarmac in the D1NZ Championship for team RHP (who you can follow here on Facebook). Drifting has been a lifelong dream, sparked by childhood heroes and realized through a drifting academy, courtesy of his supportive parents. That passion even led to his first business venture in tyres—because what’s drifting without a fresh set?
Clayton’s journey is as much about horsepower as it is about hard work. Whether it's propelling farms forward or powering through tight corners on the track, he brings energy, skill, and a genuine zest for life to everything he does.
